“Her Dream, Our Impact, Their Lives”

About Us

Thelma’s Dream

Thelma L Sidberry is a pioneer in the City of Denver. She gave of her time, energy, and money to help men and women transition from prison back to a normal life. Her love for young people and her community and her willingness to give above and beyond inspired those around her. Including our founder, her daughter, Doretta.

When Doretta faced the uncertainty and struggles of homelessness, she determined that once she got her life turned around, she would follow in Thelma’s footsteps and help people who, like Doretta, struggled to live, and take care of their families.

What We Do

Denver Human Services

Figuring out which services you need to apply for can feel overwhelming. But you don’t have to do it alone. We are here to help you figure out which steps you need to take and set you on the path toward success.

Jobs And Education

We offer resources and guidance for people looking to continue their education or even looking for a job. We have helped people like you find jobs, get job training, write resumes and cover-letters, and get the right clothes for interviews.

Community Services

Sometimes what you need is a little encouragement. Other times it’s your family that needs a little help, especially during holidays. We have resources designed to encourage you and help you care for your family during these difficult times of the year.

After-School Programs

Taking care of your children isn’t just about putting food on the table. You need to know that your children are safe, and feel safe so that you can do what you need to put food on the table. Which is why we offer 3 after school programs for kids 10-18.

E.M.P.O.W.E.R Program

E.M.P.O.W.E.R is a program that focuses on Young women and single young mothers ages 20- and up. All 4 programs are designed to empower them with knowledge and good judgment and to lead them to a pathway of self-sufficiency.

What People Are Saying

Thelma’s Dream has been a huge help to our family for the past couple of years! We are so thankful for the resources they have provided to us….anything from Christmas presents every year, to thanksgiving baskets, but most importantly housing assistance. In our time of need, Thelma’s Dream provided us a rental assistance program that helped us be able to pay for our rent right when COVID-19 hit. If it was not for this resource that Thelma’s Dream provided us, we would not have a place to live. We cannot express how thankful we are for having such a great program like Thelma’s Dream to help many in the community with their many needs.
